THE DANCE OF LIFE AND THE PLANETARY HOLOCAUST. UNDOING THE SPLIT.
How Could Humanity Stop Being a Sect of 8 Billion Fanatics?
The climate crisis is the tip of the Iceberg of the crises created for millennia by the devastating ways of life that emerged since the Neolithic and accelerated exponentially with industrialization, based on the extreme exploitation of animals and the land, on the extreme multiplication of humans, and in oppressive forms of organization. The data on the climate crisis has been known for more than five decades, but the criminal inaction of all governments has meant that the opportunity to avoid a climate catastrophe has already passed. We only had until this decade, 2020-2023, for radical systemic change, and GHG emissions only continue to grow while the main actor in the crisis, food, is not even talked about. World science is clear: exploiting the earth and other forms of life in this way leads us to imminent extinction. The change to vegetable diets, the radical reduction of consumption and the voluntary suspension of human multiplication are, in that order, essential requirements to avoid extinction, which however are silenced as taboos, due to the suicidal supremacist ideology that prevails in governments, intellectuals , NGOs, media, and populations, always stepping harder on the accelerator towards extinction. Faced with the scenario of extinction that awaits humanity, which the institutions know but with respect to which they act as if nothing happened, we can now only tryto prevent it from being even worse and adapt, mutating along the way.
The answer to all this is in the body, in recovering lost capacities of movement and perception, capacities that Sapiens had during 99% of its history as nomadic gatherers, when life was better for nonhumans and humans alike. In the European project Bodynet-Khorós and in the Casa del a Libertad, a vegan and diversity space, experiments are carried out with artistic and life practices that involve the body in order to confront the aforementioned problems and enrich an experience that urban and technological environments have impoverished. In that lost body is the key to recovering planetary health and facing the challenge of extinction, learning to respect all terrestrial life and undo the extreme dominion that leads us to the abyss.
Programme:
During the week, members of the project, from France, Greece and Italy and various parts of Spain will work on the practical and theoretical proposals of the project.
Public events:
- Thursday 28th at 8:30 p.m. in Casa de la Libertad, first floor room: Participatory talk/workshop/performance “Don’t choose extinction!” and interactive audience installation, followed by vegan tapas.
- Friday the 29th at 8:30 p.m.: Previous parade with the village groups and then at Casa de la Libertad, interactive projections on the façade and vegan tapas, Peña de la Libertad.
- Saturday the 30th at 8:30 pm at Casa de la Libertad, interactive projections on the façade + talk/workshop.
